Remember when we told you not to be fooled by the Smith campaign trying to deceive voters by modeling previous Lakers4Change recommended candidates? Well, what if we told you that their campaign tactics were overheard being shared at the candidate forum at Prior Lake City Hall? Campaign tactics shared by none other than former progressive school board member Michael Nelson.
On the evening of September 25, Nelson was overheard explaining to the woman next to her, another former board member, that their strategy will be to first target middle ground voters hard. Next, they will take every opportunity to tie Jon Conlon to “right wing extremists,” (likely recommendation from current board member Mary Frantz as she used this in her 2024 campaign). Lastly, make Smith seem like a normal nice who is open and listening to all constituents and may even “change his mind” about certain issues. Where is the evidence of this deception do you ask?
Creating Confusion
We have been contacted asking if Smith was the candidate recommended by Lakers4Change because of the close resemblance of his logo to one of the previous candidates.

False Accusations
Many comments across Facebook can be found among Smith’s campaign supporters attempting to tie Jon Conlon to what they consider a “right wing extremist” group, Moms for Liberty but what they won’t share is that Moms for Liberty is a parental rights advocacy group. What is “extremist” about that? Additionally, those same voices can be found using the SPLC as their source for labeling Moms for Liberty an extremist group. The FBI just recently cut ties with the SPLC referring to it as a “partisan smear machine.”

Misrepresentation
Many of Smith’s posts are written to lead uninformed voters to believe that he is moderate and considerate of all viewpoints. However, he allegedly refused to respond to a questionnaire sent to him by Moms for Liberty, declined their request for him to sign the Parent Pledge citing “aspects of the pledge that he disagrees with” and most recently has proudly accepted endorsement by both the teachers union and left-wing activist group School Board Integrity Project. Smith can also be heard using Nelson’s phrase, “I may even change my mind,” in the Chamber forum.

If you are looking for someone that you can trust, that is consistent in his messaging and that is not trying to win an election by misinformation and misrepresentation, then
Vote for JON CONLON
