Prior Lake in the News… Again

You may have heard about the recent assault of Turning Point USA reporter Savanah Hernandez but did you know that the three people that were charged for assaulting her are Prior Lake residents?

20 year old Paige Ostroushko and her parents, Chris and DeYanna Ostroushko, violently attacked Hernandez while she was peacefully documenting the anti-ICE protest at the federal Whipple building Saturday. Multiple protesters, including the three members of the Ostroushko family, can be seen blowing whistles and angrily swinging sex toys in Hernandez’ face during the altercation.

As Hernandez attempts to walk away from the confrontation, Paige Ostroushko pushes Hernandez against a fence. Immediately following this assault, her mother, DeYanna Ostroushko swings at Hernandez. As Hernandez turns to yell at the women to “stop pushing me,” Chris Ostroushko appears and violently pushes Hernandez from behind, throwing her to the ground. Finally, both Ostroushko mother and daughter tackle Hernandez and begin punching her. Each member of the Ostroushko family had to be physically restrained by fellow protesters so Hernandez could escape.

The three Prior Lake residents will be charged for the assault but were not booked into custody. However, a federal criminal investigation has been opened by the FBI. This begs the question, what is causing the liberal progressive residents of Prior Lake to lose control?

On Halloween evening, police were called to a residential neighborhood in Prior Lake for report of “In-Person Harassment.” This incident turned out to involve well known, liberal progressive Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board Director Mary Frantz. Per the police incident report, Frantz called the police to report that fellow board Director Charles Johnson was “blocking her driveway” while waiting in his vehicle for his children and their classmate to trick-or-treat. Prior to reporting Johnson, she allegedly approached the vehicle, pulled open his door, and yelled at him in front of the children. The police ended up issuing a citation for Criminal Disorderly Conduct to BOARD DIRECTOR MARY FRANTZ!

One must start to wonder, is there something in the water here in Prior Lake? And why are liberal progressives losing control?

Another incident to recall is the one involving now sitting interim liberal progressive Prior Lake-Savage School Board Director Dustin Smith. During the 2025 special election campaign between Dustin Smith and conservative candidate Jon Conlon, Smith approached Conlon in the parking lot of a football game full of students at Dan Patch Stadium and verbally assaulted Conlon in front of his young child. Smith has denied claims of this altercation, however, sources have indicated that an apology was actually written by Smith to Conlon shortly after the incident admitting fault for his inappropriate and unprofessional behavior. This type of conduct appears to be more of a personality trait for Smith than a one-time incident based on his actions at the board table. His quick resort to disruptive and indignant outbursts during board meetings have become the norm and it appears that Board Chair Amy Bullyan has simply decided to throw Robert’s Rules of Order out the window because she certainly isn’t running any board meetings accordingly. Maybe she will show up to the next board meeting with her No King’s shirt on while she continues to exercise her giant rubber stamp rather than her gavel?

Unfortunately, it seems that the chaos and violence instigated by the progressive left is only becoming more frequent and a lot closer to home. Let’s continue to be a calm, rational voice for our children and not allow activism to distract our students from reaching their full potential. We must hold these leaders accountable for their actions, and inactions. Take a moment to email the board and demand accountability and protection for our children. How can leaders like Frantz, Smith and Bullyan be trusted to lead our district?
